This is the latest Graphic driver from nVidia, check your driver, is this the version you have installed, http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps

first check this
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device. You should have Realtek as an option.

if not go here to Intel http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21
No:3 chipset driver, install, then RESTART your comp

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply > click Start > Reboot.

Hi Barbara,

I have a similar set-up/problem as 11foraO. Devices are greyed out. Services are on automatic. I've tried to re-install chipset from recovery disc. Have latest drivers from Realtek. Ran Belarc & Everest (both results to follow). I was unable (incapable) to find my board on the ASUS site. Would I now go to Intel for audio adapter? do i get the chipset again? I would appreciate your advice. Thanks in advance.

Please help

i've been reading through this forum and have noticed a lot of people with the same 'no sound' problem that i have recently acquired. i only signed up to this today because Barbara (bookworm) seems to be able to really help people out. i didn't want to just throw out my details and get other people to help me fix this problem, i read quite a few of the replies and tried installing drivers etc. myself, unfortunately i'm not the best with computers and still have no sound. i keep getting the windows error message and i have been through device manager and everything people have suggested but nothing seems to work. i would really appreciate if Barbara (bookworm), or anyone, could help me out and possibly tell me what drivers etc. to install.

i also installed Belarc Analysis and here are my details if it helps:
