Did you check this out
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Start > OK Reboot.

Check this out
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Audio tab / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply > click Start > Reboot.

Try a manual install
1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

Hi! When I go to the sound and audio device/audio tab all of the lists are grey. It only says "No audio device". So it seems that my compter can't find my soundcard. Do you think that it can help if I install a diffrent Windows?

Have a look at this from the Asus forum, it seems to be a common fault with this driver, http://vip.asus.com/forum/topic.aspx...F3F&board_id=3

Try calling Asus Support http://support.asus.com/contact/cont...Language=en-us

Try a manual install, and point it to the drivers you have
1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next

6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"

This is the driver from creative http://uk.europe.creative.com/suppor...pe=1&x=19&y=13

click Show Details, after installation of driver it says that you should install the Creative basic Audio Suite, but it's not on the site.

Go to driverguide http://members.driverguide.com/ums/index.php?action=r

register - logon - say No to Offers - choose Sound cards - No;1 creative labs - above Enter Model ( or keywords ) type basic - this will list the basic drivers for Soundblaster. Check sound card for model number.

Set a System restore Point before installing just in case.

Go to Asus / select Audio / 2nd in list Win XP / Via Audio / click on download link, country closest to you / it's a zip file so install this way

Installing Drivers

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

There is a setup.exe file, double click and follow installation instructions
