When I try to change the volume controls, a message pops up saying there are no active mixer devices available. I've searched for a solution, but haven't seem to find one. Everything is going swell except for the usual sound issue everyone else is experiencing here. I've downloaded the correct Realtek driver and it says its loaded on my Sound and Audio device properties, yet I still have no ear candy. Its driving me bonkers.

Check these out first

Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Audio tab / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply > click Start > Reboot.

Hello. Two or three days ago I had to format my hard drive and since then my sound has not been working and Windows can not detect my soundcard. My soundcard is on my Fujitsu Siemens D1561 Motherboard... I've been trying to find drivers but I can't find anything that works. I have installed Windows XP SP 2, Windows 2000 SP 4 and Windows XP SP 2 again. Windows can find ''Multimedia Audio Controller'' (I'm guessing it's that one?) but it can't find any drivers... If anyone could help me I would be forever thankful.

Are you using the original hard drive with the same OS that had the Gigabyte board in, did you install the chipset drivers, have you checked the BIOS to see if audio enabled?

Need a little more info, make and model of comp, if not sure Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.

I can't really say how it happened because i don't really know, but when I try to play a song on WMP it says: Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly.

0xC00D11BA: Cannot play the file
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device, such as a sound card or sound controller. You may encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:

Your sound device is in use by another program. Quit other programs that may be using your sound device, and then try to play the file again.
Your sound device is not functioning properly. To troubleshoot the problem, see the Sound Troubleshooter in Windows Help or refer to your sound device's documentation.
You do not have a sound device installed on your computer. Install a sound device, and then try to play the file again.

It's not giving the motherboard Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml

check this out
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.
