[quote=SomeOneInFl]No, the advance is very limited on a laptop I guess. Nothing anywhere in the bios related to sound/audio and it is the latest version.

HP confusing, under Display install the Ati Mobility Radeon Xpress 200 series Chipset driver, then restart your comp, then install the audio driver. The driver tells Win XP which INF files it needs to install.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s... 1905&lang=en

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

It's not giving the motherboard, or the make or model Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.

[quote=SomeOneInFl]I get the same thing when trying to install the Audio Driver, cannot find media device.

Check these out

Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Audio tab / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply > click Start > Reboot.
