Multimedia Audio Controller (Realtek ac'97 buggy driver)

Ok, so Hi, if I by posting this i am dissobeing the rules, I am sorry, (never quite been too much on forums), and If by you're call, you can delete this any time. Ok, so heres the problem, I had to reinstal my windows xp professional (service pack2 build 2600). All the files have been left on the pc (didn't realy want to delete em), and now everything is working preety fine (i just had to fix the net, pretty much got that), and now i seen that the sound does not work. I read the post "Multimedia Audio Controller" And i did not found any sollution at all, that could've helped me. So, yet i downloaded soundmax drivers, realtek ac'97 driver's (wdm_a404.exe), after uninstaling the multimedia audio controller, and instaling it from exe's by add hardware etc., in safe mode, and when bios (audio and onboard disabled) , both did not work. Yet all those combinations have been mixed to the limit, and yet i stay with NO SOUND. Ive got the Belarc Advisor, yet i do not know what info you pretty much need bout my system, so if I did not have broken any rules, and this thread stays, id be wery gratefull if you could help me. Please use easy english, im not that good at it. Thank you. p.S Atleast read this after deleting it, if its a spam.

hi, try this. go to control panel like this> start > control panel > system > hardware > device manager > look for anything with a big yellow ?. right click on it and uninstall it. make sure youre connected to the internet and restart youre computer. when it gets back on you might get windows hardware wizard asking you to reinstall drivers ..it will ask if it can connect to internet to find drivers, say yes just this once... just keep saying yes or ok. when its finished restart again and see if you have sound .good luck.

the way to do it is, copy n paste the motherboard serial number off belarc report on to google or just highlight it and right click on it ,it will ask you if you want to serch for it with youre default browser, that will take you straight to drivers site (usually). handy to know for the future with different computers eh. you have to be using the pc with the problem though.better than paying the pc shop £20 to do it for you... take care.1 ace forum this.
