Urgent Help, Severe Problem
Hello,
About two days ago, i got a virius, that has killed explorer. When i start up my computer, i have no desktop Icons, and No toolbars. The only thing that works, is taskmanager. nothing else will start. Luckily i ran regedit, and found out the export option, would let me search my computer, and luckily again, my mom has a link to her work desktop which, I'm currently using right now to write this message. I can't run Norton, i cannot do anything, occasionally i can get the start bar to appear but after five seconds it disapears.
Please help if possible, I Don't want to have to wipe my hard drive, if you have ANY ideas please let me now, i will be checking very soon.
Also a message appears everytime, i try to run something, it says something about, "the memory could not be written" again please help soon.
I'm currently running Xp (SP1)

not sounding too good, do you have access to another pc you can put your hdd in to recover your data as I'm thinking a format may be the only way out here

ANZAC_ELITE already recommended the safest and the most straight-forward solution (just make sure the virus definitions are up-to-date on the "shuttle" pc).
But if you are an adventurous type ... here you go:
Since you can get to the Registry, clean your Startup.
Then try restarting in Safe Mode with Networking and follow these cleaning directions. Better yet, print the instructions, and download all the tools on another computer, then start yours in Safe Mode (with no network), and load the tools (In this case you’ll need to connect to the Internet to update the software and to run online virus scans)
Additionally, you could try starting programs using Task Manager.
Example:
Open Task Manager.
Click File -> select New Task (Run …)
Enter explorer -> click OK.
Good Luck!
