private folders and winXP

I need some serious help, my harddrive with Windows XP (and all my mechwarrior game files) will no longer boot up, and I can't access it as I didn't make a ASR disk (dooh!) and was formated with NTFS (can't see it with a dos disk). I can accept losing the data on that drive but i had a personal data folder on a 2nd NTFS drive I had made private through XP (not encrypted, just private from other users on the comp) Booting up to a new hard drive I loaded with XP, when I now go to the 2nd drive it won't allow me to access the folder, though all the other folders on that drive is fine. I do know my original logon/password. Is there anything I can do to regain access to those files? I'm talking all my address/password lists/ect are in this folder. HELP! Thanks in advance

Boot into Safe Mode and then into the Administrator account.

Right click on the file then Properties/Security/Advanced button/Owner tab

Then take ownership of the folder. You should be able to move the folder to another part of the drive.

Thanks, it worked. I turned off simple sharing also, don't know if that made a difference.

Actually Simple File Sharing should be turned back on, it does exactly what it is named; makes it simple to share files.
