Wireless Card Question

I'm running XP on a Dell XPS and have a question about network connections.
First of all, I have a Lynksys Wireless G wireless router running off of a cable modem.
I have an external wireless card, Dell TrueMobile 1300, and just received a Linksys Wireless G notebook adapter with speedboost to match the router. I uninstalled the Dell and installed the Lynksys.
The connection works fine but when you check the connection icon in the system tray it says "wireless connection 3 (lynksys).
I was checking the speed of the card and decided to uninstall it and reinstall the dell to compare. Everything connected fine but now the icon says "wireless connection 4 (dell)"
I repeated this process because the speed of the lynksys was much better and, you guessed it, the icon now says "wireless connection 5 (lynksys)"

Does anyone know how to uninstall the previous network connections? Or even what is going on? Should I reinstall the whole network and if so, how should I go about this?
The performance doesn't seem to be affected but it's frustrating not to be able to find out where or what these previous network connections are.
Thank you for your help!

Nobody has heard of this happening? I'm figuring the connections are profiles being stored somewhere, but I don't know where. Does anyone know how to access these profiles and modify/delete them?
Thanks

It doesn’t matter … You can just leave them alone.
If you want to see all your connections, double-click Network Connections in Control Panel.

Thanks for the response. It doesn't seem to be causing any problems, it's just one of those things that are annoying because you can't figure it out

You can name (rename) your connections anything you want. You can also delete unneeded connections and create new connections.

Cheers!

Ok thanks for the info, sp_100. I think that's what I'll do and save myself a headache by just renaming my connections..
