Angry Can't burn files to CD-R or CD-RW correctly

I have a VPR Matrix computer. I have no clue what type of CR-RW drive it is because it came standard. It didnt come with ANy software. I try to use Windows XPs' files to CD thing everything goes good, and then it says its done and ejects it. I then put it in to see if it burned correctly.... and it says its curropted and/or Windows rexognizes it as a blank cd still. Are my ASPI drivers messed up or something? If so does anyone know of any Windows XP ASPI dirver for a generic CD-RW drive and where to get it?

have you updated to service pack 1 (sp1)? sp1 includes the fix for cd burning problem. the cd burning in xp should work with all cdr/w drives. if you haven't had sp1 installed, down load and install it. if the problem still occurs even with sp1, then try this:

1. go to start->run, in the box, type services.msc, a window will pop up which lists all of the services that windows xp uses
2. the list is sorted by service names, so go down and find IMAPI CD Burning Com Service. It is set to "manual" as default, so double lick that and from the "Start up type" drop down menu, choose Automatic.
3. click OK and exit, restart your computer.

hope that'll help.

Get Nero!

Hi,

Get Nero 5.5 and the new Iomega Zip drive for backing up your hard drive. The best solution is a second hard drive. CDRW will only give you a new set of problems.

All research points to using a second hard drive as the best and most reliable solution to backing up. If the software in your present hard drive is going to be used in another computer than a portable drive is the only solution, however, if it is for your personnal use than get a second hard drive.
