add shortcut to desktop on PC's over the network

I would like to automatically add a shortcut to all dekstop PC's on the network. Perhaps adding a command to the login script is the way ahead or perhaps there is another way? Can someone help please.

The OS's are Windows NT/2000/XP

Right click the Desktop/Properties/Desktop tab/Customize Desktop button/check the box for My Network Places

Then OK/Apply out.

Double click the new desktop icon.

Is that what you were looking for?

Thanks Grendel but that's not quite what I meant. I want to a a shortcut to every users PC ion the network. The shortcut is a link to a network folder and needs to be placed on the desktop for ease to the user.

Rather than visiting all the PC's on the network I want to be able to add the shortcut via a login script or something?

Could you right click on the folder, Creat shortcut, and then drag the shortcut to the desktop?

Yes, I can create the shortcut in the way you explain, but how do I get it on all the PC's in the network without visiting the PC's, i.e. remotely, automatically from the comfort of my office! (:

I think the best way to do it now will be to actually email the shortcut to the users and ask them to drag it to their desktops temselves.
