If this was the problem I would be experiencing issues regardless of SP2. Everything's kosher physically.

I've been all over Compaq's site and also called up customer support. There's absolutely nothing wrong with anything that I have. And now that I have a new keyboard, Compaq is out of the picture entirely. The only thing "Compaq" about my computer now is the original harddrive and 3.5" floppy drive. Everything else is aftermarket.
My XP Pro is an installation over the original WinME that was factory installed on the original harddrive, and I deleted ME afterward entirely.
Compaq is not the problem. I'm afraid that my mobo may be....

. I need technical confirmation before I try anything expensive and time consuming...like replace the mobo.
