double click "my computer" loading time is too long

I am using XP Pro.
When I double click "my computer", it takes 2 minutes for the page to load up.
you see the flashlight looking.
This also applies to the pull down menu in other programs when trying to access "my computer".
Can someone explain how to fix this please.

You probably have a USB device that XP thinks is an externale device.

Disconnect the USB device and My Computer should open better.

Then reconnect it and try again.

See if there are any driver updates for the USB device.

It was my USB. I unplugged it and "my computer" loaded up faster.
The USB device is one of those adaptors. 4 ports external device that plugs into the USB port.
I tried using an internal card, a 5 port one, but stuff like scanner and printer would not work on it. did not recoginize it.
I really need additional USB ports and since the external device I was using worked fine with the exception of "my computer" loading time. what are my options?
with the internal USB card, I downloaded the most recent drivers. not sure if I could have done some tweaking to it.
