Talking Newbie quick help pls

I have an laptop and I'm running win xp pro and today i updated to media player 9, I don't use system restore it is deactivated. When I rebooted after the install I get a blue screen which says that I file called MMPOOL is missing or corrupt?? I tried to reinstall win xp with repair option and complete install and I always end up with the same blue screen. I can start the computer in safe mode. I deinstalled mediaplayer but it doesn't help. What should I do?

I suggest if u have another computer also running xp to try searching for that file on that system and copying it then transfering it to the laptop. if u don't have another computer try a friend.

or

(easier) just search the CD and find it there.
if u can't find it i think u should try and get some tech support from microsoft.

why don't you try putting in a 98 bootdisk in so you can get to a dos prompt then fdisk and format your hard drive so you are starting of clean again as i am sure the file is on the disk but for some reason it is not seeing it, then just boot up with your xp disk and do a nice clean install, yers xp can do it all for you but i would suggest to go the bootdisk 98 dos prompt route, should only take you about an hour wortn a go anyway. that is if there is nothing important you need on your hard drive that is
