Norton anti-virus trial version expired

My neighbor installed the 15 day trial version of NAV but did not get a key before the expiration date. The PC is running very slow on the internet now! It takes at least 30-60 seconds to access a brower on a dsl connection (100.0 mbps). Has anyone heard of this issue with NAV and what it does to your computer if you do not get a key in time???

OS: XP pro
Brower: IE 6.0
Connection: dsl

- I uninstalled the trial version and then installed my copy of NAV 2005 with a key....but still the computer is very slow on the internet. IS IT NAV OR A WORM???

I have never heard of such. My suggestion is that if it is a valid NAV copy call norton and ask. Other than that make sure NAV is up2date and also make sure you have all the windows updates. Now how much RAM do you have? NAV and any symantec products take over your OS and kill system resources. Go to task manager and view you RAM usage. Do you have plenty? Clean out %Temp%, run the disk clean up wizzard, and defrag like crazy. Also use msconfig and disable any applets running that don't have to be loaded at start up. You might try system restore. If you have already done this then delete the restore points. Last run a check disk and see if that helps. If all else fails reinstall IE6 but as all ways back every thing up. You never know when it will go.

Its not a question of if it will, its a question if you will be ready when it does.
