Misterious Drive Letter Change.

This is the weirdest thing i have ever seen a Windows box do.
My home PC had the following config, up until yesterday when i turned it off.

C:\ Primary Drive. Fat 32 Partition.
D:\ Primary Drive, NTFS Partition WinXP. Pro.
E:\DVD-drive
F:\Secondary Drive, FAT32, Files and apps.
G:\ Sony DVD-Burner.

So i turned it on this morning and i get:

C:\Primary Drive
D:\Primry Drive
E:\ Secondary Drive Fat32.
F:\DVD-drive
G:\Sony DVD Burner.

Since everything expects to be found in F: and not E: I tried to change the assignments using the Computer Management Tool. but the DVD-Drive is not there, even though i can see it in My Computer.

The thing that drives me up the wall, is why Windows decided to make the letter change now, after months of working with the other assignment.

Well anyway, is there any other way to reassing the letters the way they were???

Minutes after i posted the thread, i had a revelation if you will. I realized that the dvd drive was not showing in the disk manager because there was nothing in the drive, so i put in the closest cd i had around and what do you know it showed up. I then proceded to assign N: to the drive, and give F: back to my secndary hard drive thus enabling all my apps and shortcuts again.

I restarted and reasigned E: to my dvd drive.

So all is well.

I hope this rambling helps anyone else in need.
