Internet Explorer closes itself when a new window opens...

When anything happens that will open a new internet explorer window (pop-up, user wants multiple windows, etc.), the current window will close before the new window pops up.

I have run McAfee virus scan and no known viruses or spyware are present on my machine.

Many great computer minds have told me that they have never seen this before. Please help me.

You might be at risk but only for a short time. Press Start-->Run--> type
Code:
msconfig
and press "ok". Go to the "Start up" tab and disable all. Reboot and try IE again. If it does not do it then it is a software you have installed ****n' IE up. If it does it again repair IE. Either way repeat the above and enable all unless it is a software that is ****'n it up. You will need to try one-by-one. Hope this helps.

Talking I had the same problem- but it's fixed now

Hey,
I had been so aggravated with this same problem... I did install Firefox (as you did) until I could figure out how to fix this.

I read somewhere that this problem could be caused by toolbars I'd installed (such as yahoo toolbar or aol toolbar). Well I tried uninstalling them but that didn't work... apparently there was still some "leftovers" of these toolbars even after the uninstall. So then I was on a search to find out how to completely remove the toolbars effectively.

I came across a site ( http://www.mrtech.com/cgi-local/msgb...=11&t=164;st=0) that had a tool for completely removing the toolbars:
http://www.mrtech.com/aolcleaner.exe
I did it and now I can have muliple IE windows open again!

So if you're still having that problem, you might want to try that.
Good luck!
