recovery

Does anyone know how to use thw system recovery console? I cannot boot into windows because a file in system/config is corrupt or missing. I have tried to use system recovery thinking it was automatic, however i have to select the recovery manually. Anyone got any experience or suggestions.

If only I'd held on before reinstalling!

Do you know why my xp cd wont boot? I dont think its my computer as 98 boots up fine. I followed your instructions using i386 etc, however an auto booting disk would be better. Am I missing a file from my cd? the files on my cd are:

Docs, I386, Support, Valueadd, Autorun, Readme, Setup, Win51 & Win51IP.
