Local Network Access Error

Hi, this is my first thread - I hope you can help.

I have two PC's at home, and have just installed a BT Voyager 2100 wireless broadband router. I have connected my main computer to the back via the supplied ethernet cable and my daughter's PC has the BT supplied wireless card installed. Both connect to the internet successfully.

The problem I am experiencing is that I cannot get my daughter's PC to see mine on the network, e.g. for file and printer sharing. I can see hers from my PC successfully.

When I try to access my PC on hers, e.g. via the workgroup computer screen, it gives the following message:-

"\\mycomputername is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Access is denied."

- Both PC's are running MS XP Home, SP2.
- I have Norton Internet Security Professional 2004 installed (anti-virus and firewall) but have put my daughter's IP address and subnet mask in the Trusted Zone.
- I have enabled sharing of the C: drive on both PC's
- I have run the network setup wizard the same way on both PC's

I'd really appreciate some help with this one - it's driving me round the bend!

Thanks.

Check to make sure XP's built in firewall isn't enabled. If it is, disable it and see if that makes any difference.

If that's not it, disable the Norton firewall and see if that makes a difference.

You may need to enable the permissions on both pc's, or need to run the network setup wizard.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had already tried this and it didn't make any difference.

Thanks for this. Permissions had already been set up on both PC's, and I have run the network setup wizard on both PC's.
