Angry can't delete MicrosoftAntiSpywareInstall.exe from desktop

I can't delete the MS AntiSpyware installer from my desktop. It says the program is in use by another program. I've tried rebooting and closing everything down, even killing as many processes as I could. It's been on my desktop for a month now and gone through several re-boots and attempts to delete.

Here's the funny thing, I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not, but I didn't download it to my desktop. I d/led it at work and emailed it home as an attachment and then d/led from my yahoo mail acct. I know this was silly as you have to download MS product installers onto the machine you're installing on, because of how they test your computer and stuff, confirming you have a genuine licensed copy of the OS and it tailor's it to your system. Anyway I didn't even try to install it at home and don't want to. Don't know if this has anything to do with why it won't delete.

Anybody know what to do? Thanks

KillBox or GiPo@MoveOnBoot should do it.

You may need to restart in Safe Mode, but try in Normal Mode first.

Good Luck!

P.S. Nobody "tailors" anything, they are simply checking people’s computers. Any standalone installer can be downloaded anywhere then transferred and installed elsewhere.

Thumbs up that rocks dude

Wow ok those look like a couple of good utilites, I'll definitely give them a try when I get home today. Thanks for the tip

Yeah, I guess "tailor" was a bit strong of a word, just meant they examine your system and include/don't include things, but even that's probably not done while your just getting the installer.

If all else fails I've got my newly burned Knoppox CD.. can you mount NTFS read/write from linux?......

Talking yeah

Yeah dude, that GiPo MoveOnBoot worked like a charm.. thanks again. I would recommend this to anyone that has a file they can't delete. I wonder if this will work on that Xerox folder in the Program Files, or maybe some of those other annoying auto-included/created files/folders i've been wanting to get rid of...
