Cab Errors and corrupt installations

Hey everybody,

I'm having several problems with my computer with installs. I initially thought it was a virus or corrupt Windows XP (service pack 2) installation. So I formated the hard drive and reinstalled Windows, but recieved the same problems. Here is what they are...

When I try install programs via CD, I get "missing .cab" or ".cab file" doesn't match errors.

When I try to install programs I have downloaded, I get the message "missing files, or file corrupt, messages." I re-download however, if I get the installation to run, I still get errors with the installation.

If by some chance the installation will continue with skipping the file, the next time I re-boot the computer, the program is missing files or has become corrupt and asks for a reinstall.

I have read that RAID causes similiar problems to this? I have VIA RAID on my PC, could this be the problem plauging me right now?
