I am trying to run Ad-Aware SE, and I am getting:

winlogon.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x1006fa3c" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written".

And if I click on either "OK" or "Cancel", it will reboot my pc.

Here is the hijackthis log:

Would everyone who is not the original poster please start your own new topics in this forum. I can't advise on HJT logs form multiple users all in one thread.

By the way ... anyone who has the "memory couldn't be written" message ... check your RAM is working correctly and is sufficient for your needs.

It is a Winlogon.exe (log in screen) .dll error (or something close) You fix it by repairing the windows system files using the windows disk

I have fixed this problem in recent weeks, on XP machines, by using System Restore. It worked a treat. Find a Restore Point about a week before the trouble started, go back to that date then update your AV programs etc. again.

hi.. its very easy to resolve the problem...it occurs because of registry false entries by trojan virus. To resolve this go for safe mode by pressing f8 at start up. it will log on and set a restore point of previously best worked. its done . I think it definitely works. if not mail me harish.madamanchi@gmail.com i will try for another methods..
thank u...
