Can't seem to get rid of dual boot

Had win 98 and xp home both set up on wifes computer for a short time. Xp was on a 10 gig HD along with 98. All other programs and files were on a 20 gig slave. She finally decided to keep Xp and let me fdisk and reformat both disks. Thought I had everything going right for Xp to be on the 10 gig HD with programs and all other files on the 20 gig HD.
She went ahead and installed all her programs and files about two weeks ago. then three days ago she calls me in and asks when I am going to remove Win98. Seems that xp still thinks I have a dual boot even though the 10 gig is solely set for it's use. I wanted to do a fdisk and format again but she through a fit when she realized this would mean reinstalling programs and files.
Anyway I assume that the boot.ini would be the only thing that would need to be changed so that the selection screen would not show up for the dual boot but I'm not sure what needs to be changed in it. As long as the selection screen for the dual boot does not come up she will be happy and then I won't be in the doghouse.
Anyone able to help. Please. Thanks in advance.

basically the boot.ini file should just contain this text for only booting XP

[boot loader]
timeout=0
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

hope that does it for you

I can't seem to delete this line. I can move it up or i can make it the default but not delete it. Thanks for the quick reply though.

if you go to the control panel and system then advanced, startup and recovery, then click the settings and you should be able to copy the part I pasted into it then it should work fine
