Unable to synchronise time via windows internet time

Hi ...this is my first time on the forum and I was wondering if anyone can explain this error.

I went to date and time properties / internet time and found the following error...

"The time sample was rejected because: The peer's stratum is less than the host's stratum".

I tried both of the available sync sites and got the same error.

clicked "Update Now" and still got the error.

I've managed to sync with Atomic Clock so the time is correct and the clock automatically swapped to non-DST as it should (I'm in Australia).

Any ideas on what this error means and what can be done to set it right?

Hello,
I got the same error message.
Try changing the time server to "time-a.nist.gov".
It worked for me.
To change the time server, just highlight the current time server and type in the new one and click updatenow button.
I hope it helps.

Time Zone Synchronise

I have received the same error message and although the last comment said to go to the alternate time zone setting, it still doesn't resolve how we correct the error for time.zone format, does anybody know why this error comes up in the To refresh everyone's memory, this is the error message I also receive when trying to synchronise time format,
"The peer's stratum is less than the host's stratum"
Cheers from San Clemente, CA

I had this problem a couple of days ago - however I tried it today 9just now0 and it worked, perhaps the server was down - I walso tried changing the time server to "time-a.nist.gov" and this work too (suggested by nitebird above).
