Exel im Windows XP

Hello all,
I wish to brush up my Exel skills.
I have Windows XP installed, but the books that I have include Data and Window on the toolbar which I simply cannot find. I understand that the Exel version in XP is Exel 2002.
I would really like to be able to use these functions before I progress.
Also the worksheet tabs at the botom of the screen seem to be missing.
Can anyone help?

At a guess I would say it could be an installation issue - have you tried uninstalling - rebooting and re-installing?
