Am running XP Pro sp2 as main os but have just installed XP Pro 64 RC2.
Thought it would be a good idea to centralise some of my user folders to a 3rd partition namely My Documents Favorites & E-Mail, basically so that I can be in either OS & have access to the same docs favorites etc., Other folders I'm not inrterested in as these will vary by OS dependent on software installed.
i Set folders up per
One PC, many Windows Did the necessary Registry changes all good stuff. Have created Shared Folders in both OSs for moved folders.
Works fine in the 1st OS, however when i boot into the other os after performing the same changes. I find I can't access the folders (Am using the same user name, computer name & workgroup (have tried different Computer name with same result).
The only way to access the folders is by changing ownership (My user is set up as administrator).
This is a pain & defeats the object of the exercise having to change ownership every time i boot from sp2 to 64 or vice versa.
I've read briefly about folder redirection but that seems to be aimed at Domain situations, & seems over the top as we only have a 2 pc home network
I could see a solution with alogon script but I think I must be missing something somewhere & there must be a solution using the Policy settings which i've missed.
Any help suggestions gratefully recieved as i'm starting to get a sore head over something which I thought a cool idea
Thanks
