Windows Media Player cannot play any items in the playlist

Need help

I'm using Windows Media Player 10.
I'm trying to access an internet site that plays asx files.
When it tries to open page in Windows Media Player I get this message

Windows Media Player cannot play any items in the playlist. For additional information, right-click an item that cannot be played, and then click Error Details.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

make sure media player is the default player for these kinds of files. open windows explorer (My Documents will do) go to "Tools"--> "Folder Options"--> "File Types"-->find "ASX" from the list of file types--> click on "ASX"--> click "change"--> select windows media player-->click "ok".

also, have you tried uninstalling and re-installing media player.
