"can't defrag"

I've just started using XP in the last few months. I did have 2000. I've tried to run defrag but it says:

Defragmentation of (C) has been aborted due to inconsistencies that were detected in the filesystem. Please run CHKDSK or SCANDISK on (C) to repair these inconsistencies then run Dish Defragmenter again.

So I run CHKDSK and it says:
WARNING! F parameter not specified. Running CHKDSK in read only

HELP!!!

Press start, then run. Type "chkdsk /f" That will say that it cannot mount the volume and will book a check on next reboot. Reboot the machine and watch it fix everything as long as it is not physical damage to your drive!!
