Presumably you have recovery/restore disk/s and not the genuine, hologramed Windows XP Home/Pro disk??

Just FDisk your HDD using a Windows 98/ME boot disk, insert the first recovery/restore disk and follow the onscreen instructions.

However, if you have the genuine, hologramed Windows XP Home/Pro disk, just follow the directions at the following link. Read them very carefully and if in doubt, print them out: -

Windows 98/ME Boot Disk

Clean Install Windows XP
