Network Cable causing XP re-boot cycle

Hello all -- fairly new to PC troubleshooting but have learned a lot in the past few weeks -

Here is the problem -

I just upgraded from Win2K to XP Pro, when I tried to re-start I got the blue screen with error messages (0x0000007f) among others --- which basically started the vicious cycle of re-starts without ever getting started. I was able to tweak and remove things in Safe Mode but what I have come to discover, is that my machine re-starts fine as long as the network cable is disconnected. Does anyone have a solution to this.

Specs: Dell Optiplex pIII, running XP upgrade w/service pack2, connecting to a Belkin 802.11G wireless router, connected to Motorola Cable Modem. I had NortonAV, ZoneLabs Firewall, Avast, Spysweeper but removed all of them from Safe Mode. There are however two items that come up on my HiJack this report that I can't seem to get rid of
- TrueVectorInternetMonitor from Zonelabs
c:\winnnt\system32\zonelabs\vsmon.exe (file missing)
- Avast! iAVS4 Control Service
c:\programfiles\AlwilSoftware\Avast4\aswupdsv.exe

Is this a driver issue? Is it the remnants of those AV programs? I'm at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
