WMP 10/Windows XP

I have a big problem because Media player didnt upgrade properly, hence I have the version 10 (with all its problems) and it is impossible to roll back to version 9 (which was working quite properly), even if i use undo restore point.
So far, Two problems The wmv files are without sounds (even when I try other players, except the wmplayer2) and windows media player is unable to read any files from the internet (like any radio on my web browser, except if i provide him with the direct link in open URL)...
Any suggestions to correct these two problems (rolling back is quite impossible I think, and I do ont have SP2-internet connection incompatible)

this allows you to remove WMP altogether, then you can re-install WMP9
