Keyboard & Mouse Problems

Hi guys,

This is my firt post - apologies if this has been covered before.

I am running a pentium 4 with XP pro. When the machine boots up, I am able to insert my password via the keyboard and move the mouse pointer to select "OK". However, once the system comes up after a few seconds my pointer turns rainbow coloured and I am unable to move the mouse or keyboard.

Can anyone help?? - I am becoming more and more frustrated!!!!

Have you tried booting in safe mode, while your PC is booting up keep tapping the "F8" key that should bring up a black screen choose safe mode from that. If you can log into Windows fine that way and move the cursor about etc it is a problem with some software or hardware you have installed or updated recently. It can be Antivirus software that has just done an update. If this does work fine in safe mode you can remove the offending hardware or take off the software through control panel.
