windows xp oem "loaded needed dlls for kernel error"

Hi all

I have a laptop with windows xp pre-installed. Last week I was checking my email when the windows update started I`d finished using the internet so I left it to finish the update. When I returned a while later i realised I had forgot to plug the laptop in so it was off due to the battery running out.

Now the problems start.

I plugged my laptop in and attempted to start up windows an error came on "Unable to start windows due to windows/system32 something something something folder being corrupt or missing" it prompted me to insert my recovery disc and press R to correct the error. So I did,I selected the non destructive recovery process and it started to extract the files from the disc,I lost count of the number of files it failed to extracted it finished the process.I restared my computer and a blue screen came on with messages I cant remember on it.

I evetually got back on to windows.I realised various thing were not right so I took the opportunity to back all my stuff on to dvd this took a while as my computer kept cutting off and rebooting itself.Since then I have tried all 3 recovery process, everytime time i do this it struggles to extract countless files from my disc and always just cuts off around 50-75% of the way through.

I do have another recovery disc on the way as I feel the one I have now maybe faulty. When I switch my laptop on now I get the following message "Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report the problem as:load needed DLLs for kernel"Anyone out there have any answers? I`m getting really fed up of waiting for my disc and I want my laptop back to normal.

Sorry for the length

Fran

Since you mention, you backed up your stuff to DVD, my suggestion would be to Format and Reinstall. This way you get a totally fresh system. Now if you really wan't to repair, well the you'll have to wait for the new repir disk ns see what that does. But if I were you, i'd go ahead and reinstall, seeing as you already backed up your stuff.

It depends on the Disc. It has to contain, a folder by the name of i386. and at the very least has to boot into Windows Setup. if it does that than you can probably format and reinstall. But since you mentioned

I'm not exactly sure what that is supposed to mean. If it is a Recovery, then it most probably won't format, and if it does Format then it is not a recovery, but a fresh install, if this is the case and it can't extract the files from it, then maybe the disc is dirty, Have you tried cleaning it. If it Still doesn't work, then maybe the disc is bad, and you'll have to wait for the other one and try it that way.
Maybe Somebody has another idea...

I have the exact same problem but on my computer. The only reason I havent tried the full format is fear of risking loosing my wireless internet connection as it is dualed on the computer to this laptop.
