windows xp very slow

i have a maxtor 6b200m0 s-ata hd, on a gigabyte k8vt800
mb.I have been able to install x64 on the hd with the
drivers for my hd. but now x64 is very slow. cpu peeks to
100% every time i startup a program. now my guess is
installing the hyperion via-raid drivers, so that' s what
i did. via raid tool is now installed, but it doesn't
recognise my hd. it keeps telling me "No stand alone disk
and No usable disk array attached, please check if any
disk array is broken." well no disk array is broken cause
i have windows xp home on another partition on the same
hd with the 32 bits version of via raid tool and in that
version my hd is recognised.

any answer to my problem? or tips?
HELP
