Unhappy Graphics Drivers for Windows XP - Wolfenstein 3-d

Hii All...

Just recently got the game Wolfenstein 3D . I have two systems , both intel 810 E .n Windows XP operating system. The game on start up gave the open_gl() error . So I Downloaded the latest graphics drivrers to make it work . I was able to install the drivers successfully on one of my systems n the game too runs fine . But i am facing problem in my other system (ACER laptop) . While installing the drivers , I get a message that a software error has occured n the installationn terminates .
What could be the possib;e reasons for this . According to me , it may be due to some conflict with the previously installed graphics drivvers . So I decided to disable the previous drivers from control panel . I am then asked to reboot the system before the system settings take effect . now that might prove to lethat. Since disabling the present drivers , I may not get the display at all after rebooting .....

Plz suggest . What other options do i have .

thnx

Hi

Thnx a lot for the reply sir !!

Actually the present graphic drivers , do not have open_gl() suppport . This is the reason why i was installing a fresh XP drivers . It had once worked too . But after that i ha formatted my computer n installes XP again . Now the same drivers refuse to install . As I said , it might be due to a conflict between the default n new drivers .

Plz help ...............

Thnx

Try to Roll Back/Reinstall the original driver in Device Manager if you can.

Failing that, use the repair option of the XP cdrom to recover the original drivers.

Let's get back to the previous working state before going further.

What is the exact model of your laptop and the exact name of the card?

Don't have the laptop right now . So can't really tell you about the exact details . neways ...it's an ACER laptop . with an onboard (Intel 810E) graphics card . I was a bit reluctant on uninstalling the driver . I rather preferrred disabling them . But that too required rebooting ......so was a bit apprehensive of not getting the display back .

Best Regards

If the gfx card's drivers have a problem, you should be able to boot to Safe Mode and reocover the original drivers from there.
