Angry Popup problem (Seems like they are on a timed schedule)

Like everyday around 11pm i get random popups for about 15 minuts, i have a popup stopper (Popupstopper free edition, from panicware) that works, sorta, it stops it from staying up, but the popup still flashes on the screen for a split second befor it gets blocked causeing any program/game thats using full screen to be minimized, this gets anoying. Soooo i need help

Xeno,

Are you on the internet when this popup appears? (Does it appear if you're not on the internet?)

Does it appear at the same site each time?

Look at this thread too:

Nope i dont have to be on internet explorer (I use Mozilla Firefox).
I can be just sitting there playing a game and a popup will cause it to minimize, evnthough the popup was blocked it still makes me minimize, and it will continue to spam popups fro about 15-30 minuts. About ever 10 hours or so

Open Internet Explorer
Click tools at the top
Then Pop-up Blocker
Then Pop-up Blocker Settings

Uncheck Play a sound when a pop-up is blocked
and uncheck show information bar when a pop-up is blocked
Close the window an it should solve your problem

I dont use Internet Explorer, i use firefox. Even if i was using IE would that popup blaocker only work while i had an internet window open? Cuz these popups come up when nothing is open, i can just stare at my desktop with nothing open and ill get popups around that time.

Also when they do popup and i dont have anything open i can see the popup window actually apear for a split second (its just white) then it disapears, im asuming this is why it interupts my games and such. Most of the time when they do popup i can hear that click noise for everyone that pops up. (if that even means anythnig)

All full spyware and virus scan would be reccomended to solve this problem. Using firefox doesnt stop you from getting these things since they share the same cookies etc, all these things have to do is detect that a connection to the internet is present to do their stuff.

ad-aware
MS Anti-spyware
BPS
Spybot S&D

are but a few, try this b4 anything else

Take a look what processes are running before this problem occurs and again after. Any changes?

Also, you've probably already checked that there are no tasks scheduled for 11ish...

Check for Messenger

There are also "bots" that use Messenger programs to make pop-ups (Yahoo, MSN, Microsoft...)

Try shutting of all your messengers, run anti-spyware and anti-virus programs in Safe mode, then clear your startup of unecessary and weird items through MSCONFIG.

I have scaned with Panda Titanium Anti Virus, Microsoft Antispyware, Spyware Docter, Lavasoft Ad-aware 6, and Spybot S&D, and a few others. Most of the time they dont find anything, but when they do its always the same things, which i delete, yet they keep coming back.

Also i have like around 45 processes running at any givin time, so i would have no clue on how to check which are running now and which are running later or whatever.

I have checked in msconfig and the only things i have start up are internet things (like for my wireless reciever and such) AIM, all the anti virus stuff, popup stopper, my video card programs, and everything that sais is required for startup.

Also the popups seem to bypass any popup stopper i have tried (which is around 5 dif ones). Strange thing is that even if i turn all of them off like 90% of them still get stopped as though they were blocked (the popup window will flash on my desktop for a split second, and make a click noise)

They are also poping up other times now besides around 11

Then these pop ups must be comming from one of the programs you have installed. What type of adverts do they display, porn, medication?

45 proccesses running at the same time is a bit extreme, the easy way to find out is to see which ones carry ur user name in the task manager.

Also if you can post a hijack this log, it would be helpfull for a more thorough solution from the board

Humor me

Humor me. Make sure they are all updated (Adaware is already Adaware SE), and run their full scan in Safe Mode then uncheck everything in MSCONFIG, I mean everything and don't get connected online. After that observe what happens.

msconfig

Noted, well we are just unchecking because we plan to simlpy reinstall the programs you need after we find the issue. To install them one by one and observe if one of them brings in the pop-ups. Also I mean for you to uncheck items under STARTUP tab and not any other.

Goodluck
