Trouble setting up Yahoo on Outlook

I wonder if anyone can help me? I'm trying to get my yahoo mail delivered to Outlook and it won't recognise my username and passwd. When I click OK after entering the correct info it just doesn't register. Then it'll say:

'There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Error logging in. Please visit http://mail.yahoo.com', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92'

Any suggestions gratefully appreciated.
Thank you,
Hannah.

I think you will find that Yahoo is an HTTP based email system and you are trying to set it up as a POP system.

Try this ...

With Outlook open ...

Tools > email accounts > Add a new email account > Next > HTTP > Next > Complete the details etc.

Thanks Loose Chippings,
Have tried your suggestion using http.mail.yahoo.co.uk and http.mail.yahoo.com for my incoming server names but have been told it's not a valid server name. On the Yahoo help page it said that it was a pop server and the server name was pop.mail.yahoo.com (which the wizard accepted) although it still didn't work.
Is http.mail.yahoo.com the wrong type of format for an http server name?
Thanks again,
Hanhan.

Thanks so much Scouse - I've tried this route but when I press send and receive the password prompt comes up and my Yahoo password is not accepted and I have no idea why. It's the same user name and password but for some reason is not working. Any ideas?

Hmm not sure why you are having this problem as the guide is correct.

A sudgestion is goto yahoo and change your password then go back to Outlook and try again with the new password.

I say this because while i was thinking about this i checked my own domains mail that i have set up through outlook and it would not except my domain password (strange) so i went to my domains panel changed password went back to outlook and it worked.

Not sure why it happened that way but give it a try.

Thanks Scouse, Have tried your suggestion and changed my yahoo password but alas it's still not accepting it. The hotmail account went through fine - it's just being funny with yahoo. Have no idea why as have done everything else to the letter. Is this Bill's cunning strategy to force everyone onto hotmail? Aaargh! It's driving me very slowly round the bend... But thanks so very much for your input anyway. HHx

I have just set up a yahoo account as per the instructions on the Yahoo page and it all works OK.

Check your settings for 'cookies' you may have the security level set too high.

If all else fails try re-registering with another username & password and see if you can get that to work.

Thanks for suggestion Loose.

I have set up a new yahoo account as you suggested and the password on this account is not being accepted either. So how do I go about checking settings for cookies? Maybe this is the problem although if this were the case presumably it might also interfere with the hotmail account which seems to be going fire?

Thanks for helping all, I do appreciate it.

If you look above you will see tools it is next favourites, click oin tools then internet options, then click on privacy and have it set to medium. then click back on general and click on clear cookies. also click on clear delete files.

Do you have a firewall set by any chance.
