HI,

Every time i install office 2000 premium on my xp machine it says installation ended prematurely at the end. I don't know whats going on, it seems to install but i can't change anything with the cd like add/remove or repair because of this. Somebody plz give me a solution cause i have already tried microsoft knowledge base and got nothin.

Office 2000

Had exactly same problem. Explore Office 2000 CD. Right Click setup program, set compatibility mode to Win98/Me, then double click setup. Will run normally after that. Hope this helps.

Office 2000 Help

Sorry it didn't work for you. When you look at Add/Remove Programs, is there an entry for "Office 2000"? Next question: When I had problems word, excel, and outlook installed, but no entry in Add/Remove, is your like this? Another potential method, I didn't try is to go to add/remove, do add from there point to the CD Setup program. In any event you will not be able to install service packs until you get a clean install.

office 2000

I am using Office 2000 SBE version. Did the faulty install go ahead and install Word, Excel, and Outlook. In my case those products were installed and executable(did not show up add/remove list), but could not update with service packs. The update could not find them(probabley missing registry entry). Have everything installed/updated and working NOW. Another possibility for you is to look for SETUP switches, I know they exist but do not remember all options available.

Thanks,
I'll hav 2 check if it shows in control panel. Everything seems 2 install, including Word, excel, powerpoint, binder and all those other ones. I'll try and c if the service packs work and if they do mabye they'll fix the problem.

Hope so.

Office 2000

If there is no entry in registry for office 2000 (ie: Add/remove), the service packs will not install. I think the crutch of the problem is the Office 2000 comes with Installer Ver 1.0, Version 1.1 or 2.0 is the versions XP requires. Good luck, glad my problems weren't as bad as yours.
