Exclamation Shutdown Issues

Whenever I try to shutdown my computer, it always restarts, no matter what. It's really annoying and probably not very good for my computer. I've read the trillion other posts on this but nothing helps me.

On the blue screen that I get to see for 2 seconds(I disabled auto-restart on fatal error and it still restarts automatically) it says the fault was in KS.sys, I've searched for this file high and low. With the search program, with hidden and system files in the search and CANNOT find it.

Is there something I can do?

BTW, I don't have ANYTHING Roxio.

Thanks in advance.

This KB discribes your shutdown/startup problem. Are you sure you don't have pieces of Roxio (EZ CD Creator) left on your machine from a past installation?

Yes I'm sure I don't have Roxio, I never have had it. I never have even used the program, heck I haven't even seen it. I really need a solution.

do you use X-setup?

there is a setting on there called : Click to enable fast shutdown.
If you enable it it will cause a auto reboot for some reason.

disable it if thats the case.

No I do not, That option is only available to 98/ME. Also, I didn't even have X-Setup until you mentioned it, I thought I would try some of the options to see if it would fix it, but it didn't. So I uninstalled it.
