Auto read problems on CDs and DVDs

My drives are failing to auto-read the infomation when I put in a new CD or DVD, when I open up explorer the drives are showing the cd that was in the drive at start up regardless of how many times I change it.

Please help as this is proving rather annoying as I am trying to find a pieces of work and know the CD title but foolishly forgot to label the CD's.

Dave

p.s. Yes I have learnt my lesson always make sure I have a labelling pen next befoe I choose to burn something!

Go to device manager and remove the cd drive, then scan for changes. It will fix the registry entry for the drive. Reboot then see what happens.

What type of DVD???

Well, is your dvd drive the type that can only read single layer format and are you trying a dual layer format dvd in the drive?
