Long delay after login
I installed a Windows patch and then removed it. I ran winsock xp.exe and now the startup of my machine is very slow once I type my password. If I disable all services at startup there is simply no delay. I have a lot of services at startup but which one can I disable?
There are a lot of services related to Symantec, but also some I don't really know:
Application Layer Gateway
Ati HotKey Poller
Windows Audio
Computer Browser
Help and Support and many more.
By looking at the event viewer I can see the following errors at startup:
No Domain Controller is available for domain ... due to the following:
There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. .
Make sure that the computer is connected to the network and try again. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator.
Well I am not connected at startup so I am not surprised this error occurs. However it was there before the delay at startup so the pb might lie somewhere else.
My question is as follow: are there any known services that slow down the startup of Windows? Are they any other known causes of delay after login? I ran Spybot and Ad-aware to no problems.
Thanks
