help me comp messed up so bad!

ok lemme give you the list...

when i try and do a backup of windows i get a error message the a file is missing.

when it finally loads windows from backup all the drivers to EVERYTHING say they are not digitally signed by microsoft and i have to manually let it install them.

the windows task manager and most other programs wont open after a while, the icon will appear next to the clock but it wont open no matter how many times i ctrl+alt+del.

cannot update windows xp because when i do the autoupdate takes me to the webpage and starts to check for updates and it just sits there until eventually disconnected from the internet or i close the window.

i get disconnected from my internet (56k) every few minutes with a message "the item invoked has disconnected from its clients".

What kind of backup are you loading from? It looks to me like the problems are all related. They are probably related through the presence of a virus or a load of spyware...or both...which may be incorporated in the backup you're using. If so, using that backup just puts the problem right back on the drive.

Have you done a complete system scan with an up-to-date antivirus program? If you don't have one installed, there are free online scans at Panda and Housecall. Whatever AV software you use (installed on online), set it to clean whatever it finds.

If you haven't scanned for spyware, download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot and Ad-Aware. I recommend you use them both since each tends to find things the other misses. Let them clean up any spyware found.
