WINDOWS XP CD Acting Up

Hi,

A small problem. I ran sfc last night, and it asked me to put in the WinXP CD. My computer hung up everytime i put the CD in, but the minute i eject it, it works absolutely fine. My CD is fine, since it worked on my laptop. And my drive also seems to be fine, since it worked fine with a blank cd in it.
Today, when i restarted, and tried booting through the CD, the computer just froze, when i ejected the CD, booted normally through the HDD.

Am totally confused with this. Could anybody help me?? My drive is a Yamaha 20X CD-Writer. Using Windows XP with SP2 and all the latest updates as well..

Thanks..
