Error: Your System Has No Paging File, or the Paging File is Too Small

After I log on Windows XP, the error message that goes something like 'Your System Has No Paging File, or the Paging File is Too Small' appears. I tried to follow the http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;q315270 file (I went to Security Permissions through regedit at local machines instead of going to c:\->File->Properties->Security Tab, which the tab doesn't exist, though I doubt that changes anything). That did not change anything. Does anyone know what is wrong?

My paging file is set at 4096, but I have no pagefile.sys (it is not hidden, it simply doesn't exist), so modifying the pagingfile through regedit (a value of C:\pagefile.sys 4096 4096) did not change anything.

You may have set things wrongly. Set to System managed and see what happens.

Go here for info http://www.wown.com/j_helmig/wxpvmem.htm
You may need to free up space on your hard drive, more ram would help(256is minimum), and the experts say to set virtual memory at 384 for high and low. Hope that helps

System managed comes with the same problem.

I know how to set my virtual memory as well. I have plenty of space (20gb free), and am only setting 4096 mb of space at that.

Angry Paging file

I had a problem with the paging file a while back. I would increase my paging file size but the problem wouldn't go away. It turned out a plugin i got for soundforge had screwed with my system files. The only way to fix it was to format my computer.

Cool

Assuming U have some free space, i'd set the page-file to (0 on the min side and 1 1/2 times ram on the max side). This should fix any out of memory error's.

Well... try running a large game using your configuration and 128 megs. Then try again using 400 min and 700 max.
I defy anyone not to notice the difference.
