Bad Windows Installer

Hi,

Another question for you all. As you know I am trying to fix a bad install of SP2...

As I try to download patches or free registry tools, nothing can be downloaded...

Thought I might be in safe mode, checked it out and I am not...

One of the Windows Installer message read as follows: >> " The Windows Installer Services could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in Safe Mode, or if the Windows Installer "is not correctly installed".

Now my question is. "How do I repair my Windows installer?"

I also noticed when I was going through my Win Patrol, that a lot of services are not running. If at all possible, how do I get them up and running?

I thought that I might start SP2 fire wall and try to make some exceptions for some of my program application, so I turned off my Zone Alarm to do this. When I went to Windows Security Center, to turn on the SP2 Firewall... Message box came up stating:

"Windows Firewall Settings cannot be displayed because the associated services are not running. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connections sharing (ICS) service.>>> Clicked, YES, then another message box came up stating:

"Windows cannot start the Firewall Connection Sharing"...

I am not running in Safe Mode, So what the HECK is happening over here?

Can I overwrite the first SP2 install, without removing it, with another SP2 download?

It seems I am dammed if I do and dammed if I don't. There has GOT to be something that can be down.

Thanks for any help on this matter

Sorry I had to post again, but I was wondering if CCleaner could uninstall SP2...

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

Have a look at this it may help http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;555175 , and just one point Microsoft have just released 6 critical patches and one is Windows Installer 3.1 see if you can download the patches first may solve the problem.
