Windows XP and booting

I wish to know wether Windows XP can boot up from a primary partition which is in an extended partition?

Sorry guys forget the question above it is wrong. What i meant was wether XP is bootable from a logical drive which is inside an extended primary partition?

No! I think it's inposible. As far as I know WIndows can boot up only from Primary Partitition.

I think it is possible, just so long as you have XP on the Primary partition, meaning the first one. Then just edit the Boot.ini file in the first XP. In any case if you want to multi boot from different Windows OS's you need XP on the primary then edit the Boot.ini file if you want the other OS to be the defualt boot choice after the 30second timeout (or whatever you set as the timeout).

Correct me if Im wrong but Im pretty sure thats the way it works.

I have personally installed XP onto unpartitioned space (in the extended partition), that was left that way (for this purpose) when I installed Win98se on the Active Partition. Worked perfectly fine.
