Angry Windows Media Player Streaming Slow-Mo

For the past week or so when ever I watch something streaming via windows media player (since its the standard for streaming usually anyway) it plays in like slow motion. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but maybe I didn't do it properly and I have checked all the options to make sure I don't have anything on slow mo. Please help!

Is there only one IE window open or several?

Are there any other programs running, which may be using bandwidth (DAP, Windows Update etc).

Look in task manager during slow-mo and see what's using a lot of cpu time.

System Idle was fluctuating from liek 93-97 throught out and IE was goin from 2-4, AIM was around 1, and everything else was zero. It was the only IE window open and no programs that would be using any bandwidth were open.

What about none streaming video (off your hdd)? Does that play ok?

Can you post the URL for the file?

Is it all streaming movies that exhibit this problem?

Regular vds off the HDD's play perfectly fine. It's any streaming video, but stuff that is secured on a server that you download and then view in the mini media player plays fine. An example of streaming video that lags is the videos on www.ebaumsworld.com or www.entensity.net and every other site I go to.

Tronyx, other references seem to point to low system resources, but I think it's fair to say that your system doesn't fall into this category

Have you recently upgraded Media Player? I had problems with 10 and reverting back to 9 sorted them out.

Still looking.

If you haven't changed anything which may have caused this or installed any other software which may be interfering, check your recent xp updates. Try uninstalling the ones nearest to the date this started (you can always install them again).
