USB devices not recognized, Audio, LAN, etc.

So I formatted and reinstalled Windows XP Pro today. Everything was going great. No installation problems, SP2 installed fine, no viruses, all windows updates.

Then I noticed a problem. When I plug in my iPod, USB thumb drive or any other device they won't recognize even though they are receiving power (iPod charges, LED activated on thumb drive). Funny thing is, my USB camera which was plugged in thoughout installation is recognized and works just fine.

I thought I'd check services, see if PnP was running, it is. I even activated Universal Plug and Play (I know, it's not such a good thing, but I'm desperate) byt still no USB. I went to my Device Manager, updated my USB controllers through Windows Update. Still didn't work. I even phoned Apple for help, nothing, iPod is fine, Windows is broken. I checked my BIOS, it's fine, USB is enabled and running Legacy Support is good, USB 2.0 is all fine.

Also, my Onboard LAN and Audio aren't working right. Any ideas?

I don't get it, I need help.

Okay, so I've fixed my USB problem. I went to the device manager under "Other Devices" and updated the USB Host Contoller through Windows Update and everything now works.

I tried doing the same for Ethernet Controller and Multimedia Audio Controller but they didn't work like I'd hoped. No Audio means no music, no ethernet means no ICS and X-Box online for free. Any ideas?

I suspect your problem could be with your camera being plugged in when you re-formatted.
My advice would be to disconnect all usb devices and run sfc /scannow from the 'Run' box (note the space after sfc)
If that doesn't work, you may be looking at another install but without any USB devices plugged in
Let us know how it goes
