sp2 internet connections problems?

Alright, I'm sorry if this has been posted before or in the wrong forum. I did try to search but "sp2" is a quite common word and won't allow in searches.

problem is... For a few weeks I've been having problems with my internet connection. Random web sites would just not load, others would load after a few tries only and some would take like 4-5 minutes before I could retry and load it. And when I say won't load, I mean it just does not find the domain as my http AND mail clients won't work.

after many discussions with my ISP and different website owners I gave up. Lately I had time to take down and reformat one of my computers. I thought I'd try NOT installing sp2, seeing that LOTS of people just won't install it.

Oh my.. Why didn't I do that before? EVERY single websites I have problems with with my other workstations would work PERFECTLY on that newly formatted computer. It's been a whole week now of testing and I can safely say sp2 was the problem.

I just couldn't believe it. My friend has the same problem that I had, but he is not ready to admit sp2 is the problem, and quite frankly, reformatting computers is fun, but time consuming :S

Is anyone else having problems with their internet connection? Have you tried sp2 with any pproblems like this?

Check out the information in the article, Windows XP SP2 Networking Problems Help.

Near the bottom is a link to download the Q884020 Hotfix. I was having the same "limited or no connectivity" you seem to be experiencing with XP Home SP2 and installing that hotfix eliminated the problem.

*grumble* *grumble*.. Now I feel silly. Firefox's cache deluded me this whole time. I am used to check "Every visit to the page" on in IE's cache settings, so when the site is down, it actually tells me. And Firefox? It just loads form the cache and smiles at you.

Point is? The problem is not sp2.

you can laugh now..
