Restore Partition Not Working & Other Serious Problems

I have a store bought computer that only came with a FAT32 "HP_RECOVERY" partition. If something messes up, I'm given the option to press F10 during startup to run the setup/fix on the partition. But for some reason that option no longer works for me!

I had Linux Mandrake installed. I unstalled it and used fdisk /mbr to restore the boot record. Maybe doing this messed up my F10 restore option?

I wouldn't even be bothered with all of this if there weren't so many problems with my current installation. With 512mb of ram, a 3ghz processor, and very few background programs running - Microsoft Office runs out of memory. In my Yahoo Messenger, avatars won't show, and the game and imviornment buttons don't work. And my 'add or remove programs' list is showing many programs that are either not on the computer anymore, or just won't uninstall.

I've ran virus scanners, registry fixes, etc trying to find the root of these problems.

If anyone has any advice, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

If

If you deleted all partitions, you're toast

Maybe you still have warranty?

I didn't delete any of the partitions. I can see the restore partition. The problem is I can't access it. It's locked.

Will do. If I can't find a patch, I think I may just switch operating systems. I'm starting to get tired of this problem now.

Thank you for your feedback.
