Unhappy ntbackup, does not recognise media

Can anyone help, I have installed a HP surestore 4000 DLT drive. I'm trying to run backups using XP pro, but everytime I go to backup and files, I get an error message saying there is not media recognised. I am using a DLT tape that was recently used for veritas backup exec. I don't know if this is an issue with the existing Veritasa image or if there is another problem.

My hardware is visable within XP and all seems to working correctly, storage manager sees both the SCSI card and backup device, but not the media.

Can anyone provide any help with this problem

Something in the back of my mind tells me that ntbackup is a very fickle application and files written by ntbackup can only be read by ntbackup.

If this is the case maybe it will not recognise media that has been written by a different application.

Try a clean format tape and see if that works.
